Manufacturer service-history reports and factory build sheets are being prepared. They are not currently available to purchase. A make or model guide does not confirm data coverage for that vehicle.
Match the advert, vehicle and documents
Check the registration, VIN, model description and seating or body configuration on the car. A Tiguan and an advert described as Tiguan Allspace need to be identified correctly before comparing equipment or maintenance requirements. Ask for an explanation of any inconsistent description.
Confirm the engine and transmission using reliable records. A sales advert can shorten a derivative name, so use the paperwork and the manufacturer’s guidance when deciding what schedule applies.
Ask about use and supporting maintenance
Where towing equipment, four-wheel drive or other relevant features are advertised, verify the actual configuration and condition. Ask a workshop which servicing items apply to that car and whether the records evidence them. Do not assume that every Tiguan has the same drivetrain or maintenance needs.
Compare repeated MOT entries with later invoices and the car’s current inspection. Historical notes can help shape your questions; they do not establish what is wrong with the vehicle today.
Build a useful family-car handover file
Alongside the service evidence, check that the advertised practical equipment is present and working. Save the invoices, dates and mileages you are entitled to keep. This makes it easier to explain the maintenance history to a future buyer without confusing equipment claims with service records.
Three questions to take to the seller or workshop
- Does the vehicle match the Tiguan or Allspace description?
- What maintenance applies to the exact engine and drivetrain?
- Which invoices explain work following earlier MOT notes?
Your next step
Read the Volkswagen record-source guide, or save your car in My Garage to organise evidence you already hold. A paid digital-record search cannot currently be ordered on FMSH; this guide is not confirmation of manufacturer coverage.
