FORD FOCUS

Ford Focus service history: know what the records prove.

A Ford Focus service-history check should connect the exact engine and year to the maintenance evidence. The Focus name alone does not tell you what work the individual car required.

YOUR NEXT STEP

Check the Ford Focus MOT timeline first.

Look at the free MOT and recorded-mileage history, then keep your service evidence together in My Garage.

Free MOT and recorded-mileage check. No account needed. Paid manufacturer reports are not yet on sale.

Manufacturer service-history reports and factory build sheets are being prepared. They are not currently available to purchase. A make or model guide does not confirm data coverage for that vehicle.

Identify which Focus the documents describe

Match the VIN and registration, then establish the engine and model year before judging servicing. Ask a Ford workshop for the requirements relevant to that car. Avoid applying advice from an online discussion about a different Focus engine to the one you are buying.

Keep the printed service book, available digital entries and invoices together. A record stored in one format is not automatically complete or incomplete because of its format.

Ask specific questions about scheduled work

If a seller claims that a timing belt, transmission service or another substantial job was completed, request the dated invoice. Check that the description identifies the work and relates to this vehicle. A general stamp or service reset may not establish a separate job.

We do not label all Focus engines as sharing one problem or one replacement interval. Ask a qualified workshop to interpret the exact configuration and evidence, and arrange an inspection where appropriate.

Keep mileage and maintenance in context

Compare the service mileages with the MOT timeline, then ask what happened between the last service and today. A low reading does not remove a time-based requirement. Record the answers and supporting documents rather than relying on a verbal “all done”.

Three questions to take to the seller or workshop

  1. Which engine and schedule were used to judge the history?
  2. Is there an invoice for every substantial job claimed?
  3. Does the current mileage follow the documentary timeline?

Your next step

Read the Ford record-source guide, or save your car in My Garage to organise evidence you already hold. A paid digital-record search cannot currently be ordered on FMSH; this guide is not confirmation of manufacturer coverage.
