A clearer report starts with clear sources.
A date, a mileage and a work description each add context. Explore the examples below to see how the information fits together and what it cannot prove.
Illustration only. All vehicle details, entries and equipment below are invented for explanation. This is not a retrieved supplier report, and the examples do not confirm coverage. Paid manufacturer modules are not on sale.
Three sources. Three different questions.
No real registration, VIN or customer is represented.
MOT and recorded mileage
- Example test date
- 15 May 2025
- Example outcome
- PASS
- Recorded odometer
- 42,300 miles
Example advisory: front tyre worn close to the legal limit.
How to use it: ask what work followed and look for an invoice. This historical example does not establish a current fault or today’s mileage. A past pass does not prove the car is roadworthy today.
Understand the free MOT report →Recorded maintenance work
- Example entry date
- 12 June 2025
- Recorded odometer
- 43,100 miles
- Recorded entry type
- Service
Example work description: engine oil and filter replacement.
How to use it: compare the recorded work with the correct vehicle schedule and supporting invoice. A short entry may not list every item; a workshop remark is not automatically a scheduled service.
If the source returns no workshop name, mileage or work detail, the report must say so. It must not infer a full service from a visit alone.
Understand manufacturer history →Original equipment
- Illustrative equipment code
- EXAMPLE-01
- Illustrative description
- Heated front seats
- Current operation
- Not assessed by a build record
How to use it: compare original specification evidence with the advert, then have the seller demonstrate the feature. Later modifications or removals can change what is fitted.
Understand factory specification →One file, with the source of each record visible
Our planned combined report is designed to bring available manufacturer history and original specification alongside the free MOT timeline. It will still need to show unavailable modules and missing fields clearly.
My Garage is available now for your own service entries and invoices. Those are owner-added records, separate from any future manufacturer-supplied entries. Keep the original documents for questions a short report cannot answer.

Look at the free MOT and recorded-mileage history, then keep your service evidence together in My Garage.
