FROM NUMBER PLATE TO A CLEARER PICTURE

One registration. A practical place to start.

Check the free records, understand what each source can tell you, and keep the evidence behind your car together.

YOUR NEXT STEP

Start with your registration.

Look at the free MOT and recorded-mileage history, then keep your service evidence together in My Garage.

Free MOT and recorded-mileage check. No account needed. Paid manufacturer reports are not yet on sale.

01

Identify the vehicle

Enter the current UK registration and confirm that the returned details match the car. A different model description or missing information is something to investigate before relying on a report.

No account is required for the free MOT lookup. Vehicle information and returned detail depend on the underlying records.

02

Read the free MOT timeline

Review available tests, outcomes, defects, advisories and recorded mileage. Our report keeps the original notes visible and can highlight identical notes repeated across tests.

Read historical observations as questions for the seller or workshop. They are not a diagnosis of the car today.

03

Bring in the maintenance evidence

Compare the MOT readings with the service book, digital records and invoices you hold. A service describes recorded maintenance; an MOT pass does not replace it.

Manufacturer-history and factory-specification reports are planned paid upgrades. They are not yet available to order.

04

Keep the file for next time

Sign in to My Garage to save the vehicle, add service entries and upload supporting documents. You can print the free report using your browser’s Print / save PDF option.

Owner-added information remains separate from manufacturer evidence. Saved reminder preferences use recorded dates and mileage; email delivery is not active yet.

Choose the source for the question

Was this car serviced?
Look for dated maintenance records and invoices with relevant work descriptions.
What happened at its MOT?
Read the test outcome, original notes and recorded odometer reading.
Was that feature fitted originally?
Use reliable original-specification evidence, then check what is fitted and works today.
Is it free from finance or write-off markers?
That requires separate provenance data. These checks are not included in the current FMSH service.

What to expect from future paid reports

Before paid ordering opens, the product must explain supported coverage, pricing, returned fields, delivery and the treatment of empty or incomplete results. A blank field must stay blank; we will not fill missing records with guesses.
