Create an index before sharing documents
List each dated service or repair with its mileage, workshop and supporting document. Distinguish scheduled maintenance from MOTs, inspections and repairs. A simple index makes it easier to find the invoice behind a claim.
Check for duplicate copies of the same visit. A digital summary and its invoice can support each other without being counted as two services.
Describe the evidence precisely
If you describe the car as having full history, be ready to explain the basis: which requirements apply and which documents support them? Where the file is incomplete, state what period or work is documented and what remains uncertain.
Avoid promising a particular increase in value or claiming a report guarantees condition. A buyer may still want a suitable inspection and separate provenance checks.
Share the useful detail without unnecessary personal data
Keep an original private copy. Before sending a buyer a document, remove unnecessary previous-owner addresses, payment details and other personal information. Preserve the work description, date and relevant mileage so the evidence remains useful.
Do not publish VINs in an open FMSH customer report. Share through an appropriate route and verify who should receive private documents.
Use My Garage to keep the file organised
Save the vehicle, record the work and upload supporting invoices in My Garage. Owner-added entries remain owner-added evidence; storing them does not make them manufacturer-verified.
You can also print the free MOT report to help explain its chronology. Manufacturer-history and factory-specification purchases are still being prepared; they are not required to organise the documents you already hold.
