MAZDA MX-5

Mazda MX-5 service history: know what the records prove.

For a Mazda MX-5, identify the generation, engine and roof configuration before reviewing the maintenance file. Seasonal use and a low annual mileage still need dated evidence.

YOUR NEXT STEP

Check the Mazda MX-5 MOT timeline first.

Look at the free MOT and recorded-mileage history, then keep your service evidence together in My Garage.

Free MOT and recorded-mileage check. No account needed. Paid manufacturer reports are not yet on sale.

Manufacturer service-history reports and factory build sheets are being prepared. They are not currently available to purchase. A make or model guide does not confirm data coverage for that vehicle.

Read the dates as well as the odometer

A car used mainly in summer may cover little distance between services. Confirm the requirements for that exact vehicle instead of assuming that low mileage removes time-based maintenance.

Ask for the Digital Service Record where available and the invoices supporting it. Include specialist work with a source label rather than assuming every invoice must appear in the manufacturer system.

Separate roof, body and modification questions

Have the seller demonstrate the roof and other equipment relevant to the advertised variant. A past service does not establish present body condition or prove that a mechanism works today.

If the MX-5 has been modified, request the supporting installation paperwork and appropriate inspection. Keep those questions separate from whether its routine maintenance is documented.

Three questions to take to the seller or workshop

  1. Are low-mileage periods supported by dated servicing?
  2. Do the records match the generation and engine being sold?
  3. Which condition and modification questions need separate inspection?

Your next step

Read the Mazda record-source guide, or save your car in My Garage to organise evidence you already hold. A paid digital-record search cannot currently be ordered on FMSH; this guide is not confirmation of manufacturer coverage.
