Manufacturer service-history reports and factory build sheets are being prepared. They are not currently available to purchase. A make or model guide does not confirm data coverage for that vehicle.
Request the level of detail you need
Volvo UK says basic service information can be requested from support or a retailer; detailed records should be requested from the authorised workshop that carried out the work. Its guidance states that the basic history is not currently viewable online.
For a car previously registered or serviced abroad, Volvo advises contacting support in that country. Ask which market holds the evidence before deciding that a UK response is the whole history.
Keep network records and other invoices together
Volvo’s guidance limits its service records to work in its retailer and authorised-workshop network. An independent invoice can therefore be important evidence even if it is absent from a manufacturer-held summary.
Upcoming service information in the car or app answers a different question from the detail of completed work. Read both in context and ask the relevant workshop about anything unclear.
Do not overread a short entry
- Request dates and recorded mileage.
- Ask for detailed work descriptions from the workshop involved.
- Keep repairs and scheduled services distinct.
- Use an inspection to assess current condition.
