Manufacturer service-history reports and factory build sheets are being prepared. They are not currently available to purchase. A make or model guide does not confirm data coverage for that vehicle.
Make each important job traceable
Build a list of service dates and mileages and identify the work actually described. Request itemised documents for separately advertised replacements or additional maintenance.
If a record simply shows a visit, ask whether it was scheduled servicing, diagnosis or repair. Counting workshop visits can give a misleading impression of completeness.
Use the history to prepare the viewing
Compare earlier MOT notes with later work invoices and ask what happened after the last recorded service. Historical findings should guide questions rather than become an unsupported diagnosis.
Verify the advertised seating and assistance features and the powertrain-specific equipment on the vehicle. The history file cannot confirm that every feature currently functions.
Three questions to take to the seller or workshop
- What did each workshop visit involve?
- Which invoices support significant work claimed in the advert?
- What has been checked since the latest dated record?
Your next step
Read the Volvo record-source guide, or save your car in My Garage to organise evidence you already hold. A paid digital-record search cannot currently be ordered on FMSH; this guide is not confirmation of manufacturer coverage.
